This is the start of my journey of becoming a designer in the professional world and making a creative space for my art.
About Me
Hi, my name is Tiffany and am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. I am in my final year of my program and will be entering the professional design world very soon.
Let me tell you a few things about myself: I am very much a perfectionist which means I am very self-critical or as some people say I am my own worst critic. This has also proven to be very hard obstacle to overcome since art can be finished but never perfect. There are always ways that one’s art can be improved. I am also a big fanatic for books specifically fantasy books. Books, I would say that they are one of my main avenues of inspiration, thus I love creating book art. I would not consider myself a realism artist, but more of someone who likes to bring the fantasy into the real world.
Most importantly, I am a devout Christian who loves the Lord and stands firm on her beliefs. This is another avenue that I draw inspiration from and has influenced many of my designs in my small business, Tiff’s Canvas Creations. I truly believe that God gave me this artistic gift to not just to make a living, but to be someone who can help shine God’s light on the world.
Art Throughout My Life
A quote from Oscar Wilde comes to mind when I think of art and that is “art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.” Art has always been the main avenue that I have used to express my own individuality. I am shy in nature, so being able to speak through my art is very important to me. Having been a very creative person even at a young age, I remember picking up a notepad as a kid, and doodling, filling every page to the brim. I was always in the art section at stores and enamored with the art classes I took in elementary and junior high.
Even throughout high school, I knew I loved art, but I never fully considered it for a career. I guess it was due to not fully understanding the capabilities that art can have in the digital world. I had only ever thought of fine art pieces that one hangs in a gallery until someone shows interest. It was not until I took my first computer graphics class at community college, did I see the endless career potentials for art especially after dropping computer science as my initial major. I took a gamble not only on myself but also on my talents, that I would be able to pursue a career in a field that I loved and that my talents would good enough to keep it lasting. Then began the journey of exploring graphic design which has landed me where I am right now in this creative space.
Me and Art Now
I am about to begin a more professional take on my graphic design career. I am learning the many intricacies of what goes into being a graphic designer. It has been a very hard and time-consuming journey, yet I have felt the most grown and evolved as I have ever had. There have been many battles and obstacles that I did not foresee and made me question a lot of my decisions. God got me through them, and I have faith that He will be there for me in the upcoming ones. Developing this creative space where my artwork can be shared is the first step in preparing for the professional design world.
